The four cornerstones of Resident Services programming are: Education, Economic Mobility, Health & Wellness, and Community Engagement.


Position Purpose: Reporting to the Program Manager, College & Career Readiness, the Regional College & Career Readiness Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the implementation of our college and career access programs for fifth through twelfth grade students. The goal is to bridge the opportunity gap by offering guidance and support to low-income and/or first-generation college youth on academic achievement, skill development, and career planning. The Regional College & Career Readiness Coordinator is responsible for executing programming to enhance college and career readiness among our students. The Coordinator provides hands-on support, guidance, and expertise to ensure the success of these programs.


Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:


Responsibilities:

Program Delivery & Management

  1. Facilitate a college and career access program for youth.
  2. Provide resources and tools to increase equity and access, and help students successfully transition to college and/or careers after high school.
  3. Provide tailored case management to high school juniors and seniors from low-income households, some of whom may be first-generation college attenders, assisting in the process of applying for and/or selecting post-secondary options.
  4. Schedule & facilitate workshops, training, college tours, and field trips.
  5. Schedule & facilitate school visits to meet with and track the educational and enrichment goals of program participants.
  6. Increase student and family awareness of educational, career, and scholarship opportunities, and guide families through the college and financial aid process.
  7. Partner with managers from other program areas to integrate College & Career Readiness components into the after-school and teen-tutoring programs to foster academic and social and emotional success and serve as a pipeline for the College & Career Readiness high school program.

Community Engagement

  1. Communicate with program participants, parents, partners, and community stakeholders through monthly calendars, newsletters, fliers, announcements, and articles in English and relevant languages to meet the linguistic needs of recipients.
  2. Partner with managers from other program areas to provide College & Career Readiness educational opportunities tailored for AHC families. This collaboration aims to enhance family comprehension of career planning for their children well before they enter high school.
  3. Recruit participants for college and career access programs.
  4. Engage students and families in surveys and feedback to improve programs and support educational and social emotional needs.
  5. Create opportunities for outreach to residents by promoting classes/programs, workshops, and special events through various communication methods.

Collaboration

  1. Partner with managers from other program areas and collaborate with Resident Engagement Specialists to ensure ongoing knowledge of College & Career Readiness opportunities.
  2. Maintain ongoing communication with community- and school-based college access or career training partners.
  3. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with student teachers and parents to nurture academic & social development.
  4. Work cross-departmentally with AHC and third-party property management companies and community partners.
  5. Support and supervise volunteers to work as tutors and mentors and provide support for community events and other student needs.
  6. Partner with the Volunteer Manager in the facilitation of volunteer orientations, trainings, quarterly check-ins, to support teer retention.
  7. Attend regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings, including one-on-one check-ins, team meetings, and All Staff meetings.

Data Management

  1. Collect, document, and manage data using the appropriate platforms designated by Program Manager and Data & Analytics Manager, ensuring accuracy and consistency with established data collection standards for impact measurement.
  2. Compile program data into monthly reports to measure the impact and effectiveness of educational programs.
  3. Maintain accurate records of program attendance, program sessions, teen participation for Project Discovery, ongoing accountability and funder reports.

Financials

  1. Manage and reconcile a monthly program budget, and other financial requests.
  2. Complete monthly credit card reconciliation forms and vendor check requests with expense coding.

Community Spaces and Equipment

  1. Coordinate use of AHC community rooms for AHC and Community Partner programs. Ensure that groups using the community room follow established protocols and guidelines.
  2. Work with IT to purchase, maintain, or repair technology, including computers, phones, and printers.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of AHC.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in education; Master’s preferred.
  3. Three years of work experience in an educational setting.
  4. One year of college and career readiness case management experience
  5. Experience supporting and motivating first generation youth and students who are underrepresented in higher education.
  6. Cross-cultural competency and commitment to racial justice a must.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population.
  8. Good listener, collaborator, problem solver, good sense of humor and team spirit.
  9. Experienced in piloting new programs and responding to changing opportunities and challenges.
  10. Strong organizational skills in communications, program planning, time management, and data collection and reporting.
  11. Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint. Database experience preferred.
  13. Spanish, Amharic or other relevant second language fluency strongly preferred.
  14. Knowledge of resources and working relationships with high schools, colleges & universities, and stakeholders within the DC Metro area, including Baltimore City & County.
