Position Title: Development Officer
Department: Development
Accountable To: VP of Development
FLSA Status: Non-exempt / Part Time (24 hours)
Results Statement: I am accountable for producing the following results:
To promote the mission and message of Clarity of Central Indiana, within the communities of Shelby and Decautur counties, through personal contacts, public appearances and fundraising events in a way that maintains and expands philanthropic support of the ministry to meet funding needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Actively participate in the annual creation of the Development Plan and follow through on its successful completion
- Produce and implement both expense budgets and revenue forecasts for multiple development functions
- Analyze development progress to make adjustment and improvements to initiatives and processes
- Baby Bottle Campaign
- Coordinates delivery, pickup and processing of baby bottles from participating churches.
- Acts as communication liaison between the church's and Clarity regarding the Baby Bottle Campaign
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist in processing the baby bottles
- Track the results of each campaign and communicate with the church representative the amount raised
- Effectively utilize the donor tracking database through accurate entry, advanced reports, and integrated communication options
- Oversee accurate gift processing standards, including timely gift entry and acknowledgement and integrity of data
- Ensure all donors are acknowledged in a timely manner
- Along with the VP of Development, manage a pipeline of donors to welcome supporters in at every level and further leverage their generosity
- Recommend development process modifications
- As work load allows, grow a small portfolio of individual donors
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of an effective, well-rounded development campaign
- Demonstrate the ability to use sound judgement and discretion regarding confidential information
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail
- Demonstrate solid project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner
- Find common ground and gain collaboration amongst management, and colleagues; able to influence outcomes in a respectful manner
- Develop strong relationship management skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written; show ability to compose compelling solicitations while respecting the privacy and dignity of clients; comfortable facilitating meetings and speaking to groups when needed; ability to find humor and peace even during stressful times
- Enthusiastic and desires to mobilize people to the mission of Clarity
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Use Laptop, keyboard, mouse, 10-key calculator. Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in fundraising, special events, donor communication, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge and experience. Intensive experience with a shorter period of time may be considered.
- 3+ years as project manager of multiple simultaneous complex projects with demonstrated ability to change focus without losing momentum.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, demonstrating ability to establish rapport with all levels of Staff, Funders and Donors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage details, meet fundraising goals, build momentum around events, and work in a collaborative, welcoming manner.
- Ability to create comprehensive and meaningful reports to provide insight into development activities and progress toward goals
Essential Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Valid driver's license; reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; utilizing stairs; operating office equipment; and lifting up to 40 pounds; reach above shoulder heights, below the waist; or lift to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required.
