Position: Senior Procurement Specialist

Compensation: $90,000-115,000

Location: San Bernardino, CA



Position Summary

The Senior Procurement Specialist is primarily responsible for sourcing and purchasing plastic and corrugate materials, with additional duties in supplier development and pricing negotiations. The role involves procuring parts, equipment, and production supplies by identifying supply sources and tracking supplier performance to ensure timely acquisition of essential materials and equipment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and assess suppliers to find the best sources for cost, quality, and delivery needs. Negotiate and establish long-term pricing agreements for essential commodities.
  • Fulfill purchase requisitions with both domestic and international suppliers by placing purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and confirming transaction details.
  • Serve as a bridge between suppliers and various departments to troubleshoot procurement issues.
  • Monitor inventory levels, including minimum, maximum, and safety stocks, and make inventory adjustment recommendations to management.
  • Track supplier performance, ensuring timely delivery of products meeting specified requirements. Maintain records of supplier meetings to monitor compliance with company standards.
  • Keep procurement records detailing purchases, costs, delivery schedules, product quality, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods and services.
  • Support GMP initiatives, focusing on customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and corrective actions. Prepare reports to facilitate information sharing as needed.
  • Contribute to team objectives by taking on additional tasks as needed, supporting others in achieving their goals.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

  • Strong written, verbal, and active listening abilities.
  • Adaptability to new processes, products, and technologies. Ability to learn company products and technologies thoroughly to effectively respond to requests and direct inquiries to the right team or individual.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Effective multitasking skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks, resolve issues promptly, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-evolving setting with changing priorities.
  • High attention to detail, process-oriented with a balance between speed and service quality. Metrics for quality and efficiency will be monitored.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Physical Requirements

  • Typical office environment conditions.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer, and use office equipment.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the plastic bottle industry or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
