Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for a diligent Payroll Administrator to join our team operating in the legal industry, located in Detroit, Michigan, 48226-3516, United States. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As a Payroll Administrator, you will be tasked with managing payroll activities for staff, facilitating compensation planning, auditing, and account reconciliations. You will also handle payroll-related changes and adjustments, and support partner payroll efforts as required.

Responsibilities:
• Manage and execute payroll activities for staff using ADP software.
• Handle payroll for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, tax changes, rate changes, and special pay programs.
• Prepare and maintain journal entries for all processed payrolls.
• Manage and process payments of employee garnishments and employment verification requests.
• Participate in annual compensation budgeting for all staff employees.
• Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll-related accounts.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws and identify issues for escalation.
• Support partner compensation efforts as needed.
• Constantly look for ways to improve efficiency and update Policies and Procedures accordingly.
• Handle unemployment-related matters and process requests for employment verification.• Must have a comprehensive understanding of Full Cycle Payroll
• Proficiency in using ADP - Payroll is required
• A strong understanding of Payroll Functions is necessary
• Experience in Account Reconciliation is a significant advantage
• A degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration or similar is preferred
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential
• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is needed
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required
• Previous experience in the legal industry is a plus
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills are necessary
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
