Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and administrative support in a medical practice. This position requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff in various tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Perform routine administrative duties, such as answering telephones, updating patient records, and scheduling appointments.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, and authorize drug refills as necessary.
  • Take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, and change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in a medical setting is preferred but not required.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
  • BLS Certification is required.
