Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Report any changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Maintain clean and neat stocked areas and patient rooms
  • Clean equipment between each patient use
  • Operate unit equipment as required
  • Run unit errands as needed
  • Assist with and accompany patients on admission, discharge, and transfer
  • Answer patient call lights promptly
  • Keep hallway clear of equipment
  • Distribute water and ice
  • Maintain 24-hour urine collections
  • Perform catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring
  • Run unit errands as needed
  • Take and record vital signs and weight
  • Record accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.)
  • Sign/initial documentation
  • Document patient turns and repositioning
  • Report any skin condition to the Registered Nurse
  • Assist with completion of daily flow sheet
  • Respond to overhead pages
  • Participate in orientation of new employees as assigned
  • Adhere to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Access and accurately maintain electronic and paper medical records
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
