About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective client care in our crisis stabilization unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain unit safety, ensuring the well-being of clients and staff.
  • Assist clients with their activities of daily living, including eating, sleeping, and hygiene habits.
  • Facilitate and assist with the development of program groups, completing group documentation and shift reports as required.
  • Perform direct client service duties, including meeting and greeting clients, taking inventory, and making beds.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the unit, scrubbing and mopping as needed, and organizing group rooms.
  • Perform laundry duties for the unit and client laundry, serving meals, and assisting clients with special needs.
  • Engage and provide verbal support for clients, completing progress notes for every engagement.
  • Coordinate discharges in consultation with the case management team, completing shift reports and faxing meal requisitions as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with the seriously mentally ill.
  • Ability to submit official transcripts and evidence of 1,500 hours of supervised experience obtained within a 5-year period.
  • Qualification as a QMHP-A.
