Job Summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grade 9 Support Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in supporting the success of our Grade 9 students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members and school-based Grade 9 coordinators on establishing and implementing Freshman House structures.
  • Lead the development of processes that promote continuous improvement and support the implementation of robust Freshman Houses and an articulated On Track to Graduate process in schools.
  • Support the development of coaching and professional learning sessions for Grade 9 coordinators on maintaining manual and electronic files and/or records.
  • Maintain partnerships with external organizations, such as Johns Hopkins University, and participate in metric meetings regarding our Grade 9 cohort.
  • Design and deliver professional learning to Grade 9 coordinators, including developing a learning arc and working with the coordinator of professional learning to establish outcomes and objectives.
  • Ensure that school leaders are informed of professional learning provided to Grade 9 coordinators and develop a mechanism for ongoing communication with school leaders.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to assess the implementation of the Grade 9 coordinator role in schools.
  • Work across offices to ensure alignment in central office support to high school leaders and staff.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement from the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience, with 9th grade experience preferred.
  • High school leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience with coaching adults is preferred.
  • Knowledge of developing and monitoring project implementation plans.
  • Knowledge of establishing systems and structures that support students in Grade 9, including On Track to Graduate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures is preferred.
