Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Middle School Science Teacher to join our team at the Baltimore City Public School System. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing an instructional program in General Science for students in grades 6 through 12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students in grades 6 through 12, aligned with the City Schools curriculum framework.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain effective discipline and management procedures to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Continuously assess student achievement and maintain accurate assessment and evaluation documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Professional Development: Participate in in-service and staff development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in education.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education in Science or related field, or eligible for conditional certification in General Science.
  • Certification: Valid standard professional teaching certificate appropriate to the subject taught.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience in a middle school setting, preferably in Science.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
