About the Role

Doctors Hospital of Laredo is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Emergency Department team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist nurses with patient care activities, including vital sign measurements, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Transport patients to and from various departments, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Perform various clinical tasks, such as EKGs, lab draws, and casting/splinting, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Stock supplies, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and ensure the efficient operation of the department.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families to provide excellent customer service.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; MA, CNA, or student in the last year of a nursing program preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required; de-escalation training (CPI) within six months of employment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
