Dean of Students

At Memphis School of Excellence, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dean of Students to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, the Dean of Students will play a vital role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the Principal and other school administrators
  • Draft and prepare all correspondence, including letters, memorandums, agendas, reports, minutes, and other documents
  • Implement the Student Code of Conduct and maintain a safe and orderly school environment
  • Coordinate school field trips and manage the office filing system
  • Communicate with parents and key stakeholders, and provide guidance and support to students
  • Manage Saturday detention and suspensions, and collaborate with instructional staff and other school personnel to improve student outcomes
  • Counsel students to improve their performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues
  • Monitor students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment
  • Participate in meetings and professional development activities to convey and gather information required to perform functions
  • Respond to emergency situations and direct to appropriate personnel for resolution
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

  • Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, effective supervision, assistance, and/or interpretation to others
  • Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials
  • Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information
  • Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and interpret graphs
  • Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Light Work: May require occasional light lifting
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required
  • Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location
  • Modest travel is required
