Job Summary

This is a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment within the Business and Legal Studies department to teach Accounting courses. The faculty member is responsible for planning, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction on topics in the areas of Accounting within the Business and Legal Studies Department.
  • Administer, evaluate, and grade students' class assignments, tests, and papers, and promptly inform students of their grades and progress in the course.
  • Maintain office hours for advising students seeking assistance with class assignments, academic, and career fields.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean, or Department Chair.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees and provide service to the college and community.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair/Dean.
Requirements
  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Accounting from an accredited institution or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years demonstrated excellence in classroom/laboratory teaching experience at the community college level is required.
  • A background check for the successful candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning, experience interacting successfully with an ever-growing student population.
  • Skill in using technology in instructional methods and for maintaining academic and performance records.
  • Ability to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the six locations.
  • Ability to communicate written information and ideas effectively.
