The Associate Dean will provide leadership and management for the division, overseeing faculty and staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic programs. This is a full-time, fiscal year faculty appointment with management and supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a course in program area
  • Provide leadership to the division of Health and Natural Sciences
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to foster external partnerships for clinical education
  • Work with external stakeholders to build programs leading to sustainable careers
  • Work to improve access to health and science programs within the college
  • Participate as an active member of division advisory committees
  • Assist division program compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies for program reviews and academic audits
  • Assist division in maintaining compliance with SACSCOC standards and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies related to academic affairs
  • Analyze assessment and outcome data to drive decision making
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed for optimal program delivery
  • Model and support the innovative use of technology
  • Resolve student, faculty, and staff problems to the extent possible
  • Promote professional development of all division members
  • Conduct evaluations of faculty and staff within department as assigned
  • Assist in managing program schedules and faculty load assignments
  • Attend program/department, division and college meetings and functions
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of program accreditation standards and processes
  • Master's degree in a discipline or related area within the division
  • Three years teaching experience in higher education in one of the academic disciplines within the division
  • Demonstrated leadership (department chair, coordinator, college committee chair)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous leadership/management in higher education
  • Terminal degree in discipline
  • Leadership in accreditation acquisition/maintenance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time
  • Ability to analyze data in evaluation of curriculum outcomes
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build effective teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Teaching and facilitation skills
  • Sense of inquiry that promotes currency and adaptation
