We are seeking a Senior Manager for our International Tax Compliance team.

Position Overview

Join the Liberty Global Tax Department, where you will play a vital role in managing international tax compliance initiatives. This position emphasizes international compliance projects (including Forms 5471, 8865, and 8858), domestic compliance (Form 1120 and 1065), and comprehensive tax reporting. You will be accountable to both the Director of U.S. Tax Compliance and the Director of Global Tax Reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the review of international tax compliance filings, ensuring accuracy in Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1120F, and 1118, along with associated disclosures.
  • Manage the review of domestic tax aspects related to U.S. Consolidated Income Tax Returns and Partnership tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1065, and relevant disclosures.
  • Advise the U.S. Tax Compliance Director on international components of U.S. tax returns, particularly concerning tax planning, acquisition integration, and asset dispositions.
  • Assume a leadership role within the U.S. Tax group, exercising decision-making authority as directed by the U.S. Tax Compliance Director.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement to enhance the efficiency of information gathering and the return preparation/review process.
  • Lead and execute tax-related compliance projects, coordinating joint compliance and strategy initiatives.
  • Collaborate on income tax planning efforts to accurately document, account for, and report the tax implications of transactions and strategies.
  • Support U.S. income tax examinations and assist in gathering information for non-U.S. tax audits as necessary.
  • Conduct research, modeling, and reporting on the domestic and international tax implications of transactions, including necessary disclosures.
  • Assist the U.S. Tax Compliance Director in monitoring and reviewing global tax projections.
  • Provide service-oriented support to other departments (legal, treasury, financial reporting, etc.) to ensure timely and precise reporting, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Research and analyze recent developments in international tax law, documenting and communicating the potential impacts of legislative changes on the organization.
  • Mentor and develop Tax Department team members, fostering a collaborative environment and contributing to staff training.
  • Support tax-related SOX compliance, participating in the review and approval of SOX processes and ensuring the accuracy of specific tax-related controls.
  • Assist in reporting Group deferred tax assets/liabilities, net operating losses, and cash tax figures as per quarterly financial statements.
  • Help document and track uncertain tax positions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Global Tax Reporting to certify the IFRS tax provision, including IAS 12 reporting and preparation of tax-related disclosures for Group IFRS accounts.
  • Support the preparation and review of income tax provisions for U.S. entities, including training those involved in provision preparation.
  • Stay informed on tax accounting regulations and developments (US GAAP and IFRS), anticipating and preparing for changes.
  • Ensure that various group scorecards and project management lists are current and actionable.
  • Maintain and enhance strong working relationships with external auditors.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Accounting is required; a graduate degree in tax/accounting is preferred.
  • CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in international tax.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong tax research and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and attention to detail.
