Position Summary

The Cash Management Operations Leader is tasked with the strategic oversight of cash flow activities within the organization. This role involves leading a dedicated team that serves as the first line of defense against financial discrepancies and fraud. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, responding swiftly to daily operational demands while embracing innovative strategies to enhance overall performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
    • Manage daily operations and workflow within the department, providing support for critical functions as necessary.
    • Maintain a comprehensive team calendar to ensure timely coverage for key deadlines and transaction activities.
    • Establish and enforce operational guidelines to guarantee adherence to applicable banking regulations.
    • Guide a team of Analysts, Specialists, and Associates, focusing on performance improvement, mentorship, and professional growth.
    • Ensure compliance with established protocols to mitigate risks of fraud or financial loss.
    • Foster strong working relationships with senior management, colleagues, and team members across the organization.
  • Operational Oversight
    • Supervise daily transaction processing:
    • Oversee the execution of a high volume of domestic and international wire transfers.
    • Manage ACH setups and resolve exceptions.
    • Direct check processing and returns.
    • Implement and oversee OFAC and other BSA/AML compliance measures.
    • Maintain comprehensive control of daily cash positions:
    • Balance and report on ATM switches, cash vaults, and branch cash drawers.
    • Reconcile discrepancies with the general ledger and accounting.
    • Administer the Bank's internal deposit and payment accounts, ensuring compliance with cash flow regulations.
    • Enhance team expertise in core banking systems:
    • Develop the team's knowledge of current platforms and identify new technologies to boost efficiency.
    • Maintain detailed operational procedures and update them as necessary to address emerging risks.
    • Provide management reports summarizing activities and highlighting areas for improvement.
    • Formulate an operations strategy that:
    • Monitors industry trends and benchmarks performance.
    • Identifies new products and services to enhance client satisfaction and streamline operations.
    • Recognizes and mitigates potential risks of loss and fraud.
    • Ensures team members receive proper training and resources to excel in their roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; High school diploma required.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in banking operations, treasury, or payment functions.
  • 5-7 years of experience in people management, including performance evaluation and coaching.
  • Strong understanding of the banking sector and comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards.
  • Exemplifies the core values of Fortis Bank, demonstrating a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with various banking technologies.
  • Strong adaptability to new systems and technologies.
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with management and team members.

Additional Information

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Treasurer.

Work Environment: This position offers a hybrid work schedule with a requirement to work in a Fortis Bank office location regularly.
