Job Overview:

As an EHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations align with environmental health and safety standards. Your expertise will guide our team in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Authorized Responsible Official (ARO) through the Federal Select Agent Program, ensuring adherence to US 42 CFR Part 73.
  • Independently or with minimal supervision, develop and uphold EHS standards, policies, and programs tailored to your area of responsibility, facilitating legal and ethical compliance.
  • Provide leadership in EHS matters to management and staff, emphasizing biosafety and biosecurity protocols.
  • Offer strategic insights to formulate and execute EHS initiatives aligned with AbbVie's long-term objectives, particularly regarding toxin management.
  • Act as AbbVie's representative in discussions with external regulatory bodies and non-governmental organizations on EHS matters.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of local, regional, and federal EHS regulations relevant to your responsibilities.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements, perform impact assessments, and implement compliance programs to meet both external and internal standards.
  • Coordinate EHS-SAT activities across various departments, including GEMBA walks, inventory assessments, and emergency drills, while advising site management on EHS system status.
  • Track and communicate compliance metrics, key performance indicators, and significant issues to stakeholders, developing action plans as necessary.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to achieve EHS-SAT objectives and ensure alignment with overall business goals.
  • Design and deliver training materials tailored to the needs of learners and the organization.
  • Identify and advocate for process enhancements that strengthen EHS functions and mitigate risks.
