Job Summary

The Utilities Systems Operator 2 plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Central Utilities Plant at Loma Linda University Medical Center. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as gas turbines, steam boilers, generators, centrifugal chillers, absorption chillers, and air compressors to provide utilities to the university and medical center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain equipment to provide utilities to the university and medical center
  • Assist with developing new procedures and training of new employees
  • Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum four years of experience at Loma Linda University Central Utilities Plant or similar facility required
Knowledge and Skills
  • Able to move with agility to transport equipment
  • Maintain hand and finger dexterity to perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Follow general safety protocols
  • Able to work professionally with colleagues in a manner that generates mutual respect and a positive working environment
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Able to perform basic math functions
  • Able to organize and prioritize work load
  • Able to define problems and solutions
  • Able to make recommendations
  • Able to manage time effectively and plan and implement objectives effectively
Licensures and Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License required at time of hire
  • One-year certificate from college, technical school or certification relevant to utility generation preferred
