Position Overview:


Schnabel Engineering is seeking to enhance its service offerings to clients requiring civil and environmental engineering expertise, particularly in site planning and design for solid waste, industrial, and power facilities.

Ideal candidates will be versatile, organized problem solvers with strong communication skills and a passion for tackling technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the creation of various civil/environmental engineering designs and deliverables, including site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, and investigation reports.

Participate in civil and environmental field investigations and permitting processes.

Support the preparation of civil and environmental engineering calculations.

Develop plans and figures utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS software.

Contribute to the formulation of civil/environmental engineering recommendations, prepare plans and specifications, and draft technical documents.

Assist in the preparation of regulatory permitting documents for civil/environmental projects.

Collaborate with civil and environmental engineering teams and other Schnabel business units to effectively manage workload across available resources.

Conduct fieldwork as necessary to fulfill client requirements and expectations, including drilling, instrumentation and monitoring, and site inspections.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

0 to 4 years of professional experience in consulting civil/environmental engineering.

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain EIT certification within one year.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS for the development of required deliverables.

Strong skills in Office 365 and other productivity software.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

A positive attitude and a safety-conscious mindset.

Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet client deadlines.

A strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.

Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Confidence and independence, with a shared sense of responsibility for work outcomes.

Effective time management and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated interest and experience in civil design and environmental permitting for site design and development, including Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management.

Additional Requirements:
Ability to lift 60 pounds and navigate construction sites safely, including traversing steep slopes and uneven terrain, and working outdoors as needed.

Willingness to perform fieldwork and travel as required for projects.

Ability to pass a background check, which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
