Job Summary

Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is seeking a skilled Shift Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant production equipment, support equipment, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair plant apparatus room equipment, including air compressors, vacuum pumps, air dryers, cooling towers, circulating pumps, smog hogs, and heat exchangers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant production equipment, including front-end, washer, back-end, and end-line equipment.
  • Ensure the proper operation of pumps in the tank farm, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain and repair the bulk fluid delivery system.
  • Perform required PM&R of the waste treatment area.
  • Fabricate parts for the repair of systems or equipment.
  • Assist other areas as needed, including new equipment installation and repairs to building and grounds.
  • Maintain and repair coolant filtration and delivery systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of boiler systems.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in the shop and other areas of work.
  • Assist in other areas as needed to maintain a smooth flow of cans through the plant.
Requirements
  • Able to perform complete overhauls of all required equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine the cause of faults, breakdowns, and failures.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems, chemical properties, and proper handling requirements.
  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Understand pump operations, CFM's, pressures, and be able to make repairs, rebuild, and overhaul pumps as needed.
  • Communication skills needed to evaluate needs of customers/vendors, order parts, and explain problems.
  • Basic computer skills necessary to collect data and document P.M.'s.
  • Understand the function and operation of all plant can-making equipment, knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices.
  • Understand gearboxes, chains, and sprockets, ratios, and speeds of various power transmission equipment.
  • Able to operate drill presses, band saws, mig/tig/stick welding of all types of metals and materials, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.
  • Able to operate fork trucks and lift equipment.
  • Understand city, state, and federal regulations regarding certification of work and permit requirements.
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices.
