About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at the State of Iowa. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design work on a wide variety of civil construction projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare complete engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for state facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with DNR staff, management personnel, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Research and develop cost estimates and bid documents.
  • Conduct site visit inspections to verify contracted work meets specified requirements.
  • Work independently with consistent results and minimal supervision.
  • Develop and foster teamwork with other design professionals, park staff, and biologists.
  • Travel across the state as required.
  • Have a customer service focus.
  • Display high standards of ethical conduct.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Architectural or a related engineering field.
  • Six years of full-time engineering experience in the design/construction of buildings, utilities, earthwork, or related facilities/structures.
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license recognized by the State Board of Engineering Examiners or Certificate of Registration as a Professional Architect by the State Board of Architectural Examiners.
