Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at the State of Iowa. As a key member of our Engineering Section, you will be responsible for leading the design work on a wide variety of civil construction projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with park managers and wildlife biologists to ensure project success
  • Develop and prepare complete engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for state facilities
  • Conduct site visit inspections to verify that contracted work meets specified requirements
  • Research and develop cost estimates and bid documents
  • Collaborate with design professionals, park staff, and biologists to develop and implement project plans
  • Travel across the state as required to inspect project sites and meet with stakeholders
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, or a related engineering field
  • Six years of full-time engineering experience in the design/construction of buildings, utilities, earthwork, or related facilities/structures
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license recognized by the State Board of Engineering Examiners or Certificate of Registration as a Professional Architect by the State Board of Architectural Examiners
