Job Overview

As a member of RDG Planning and Design, the role of a Civil Engineer is distinct and engaging. We are currently seeking a skilled engineer to enhance our water resources division.

In this position, you will collaborate with seasoned professionals who have significantly contributed to the development of load design standards. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse array of projects, including:

  • Regional watershed planning
  • Stream restoration initiatives
  • Stormwater management strategies
  • Site design and urban infrastructure development

This role offers a unique opportunity to refine your expertise while contributing to projects that improve community well-being across the nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project management and ensure quality control
  • Design civil engineering sites, including utilities, paving, and grading
  • Conduct watershed planning and analytical assessments
  • Develop and implement stormwater management practices
  • Evaluate and restore stream conditions
  • Plan and design recreational areas and water trails
  • Provide support for design calculations
  • Utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) tools
  • Enhance community infrastructure through stormwater improvements and recreational developments
  • Engage in field assessments and site evaluations

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Creative problem-solving abilities
  • Capability to manage tasks and supervise team members
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in hydraulic and hydrologic computational methods
  • Experience with design specifications and drawings
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD (Civil3D preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with hydrologic modeling software
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and/or ArcMap software systems is preferred
  • Expertise in relevant design standards, such as the Iowa Stormwater Management Manual
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF modification tools is optional
  • Familiarity with hydraulic surface flow modeling software is optional
  • Experience with Microstation or Revit is optional

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering (or a related field)
  • 10-20 years of relevant professional experience
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in any state
  • Interest in pursuing Iowa River Restoration Toolbox Training certifications is a plus
