About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a key member of our patient access team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a seamless and efficient patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, responding to their questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collect and verify patient demographic information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize multiple online systems to verify patient insurance eligibility and benefit levels.
- Collaborate with various hospital departments and physicians' offices to effectively schedule and direct patients through our systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact patient satisfaction or experience.
- Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure the integrity of patient data and enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure a positive and supportive environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-3 years of customer service or medical office experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer skills and ability to type 40 wpm.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional education or certifications in healthcare or a related field.
- Additional language skills.
- Healthcare finance and/or insurance experience.
- Knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting, especially patient scheduling and/or registration.
