Position Summary

Hybrid Work Model: 3 days on-site and 2 days remote following the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

I. General Overview:
Under general supervision, this role involves performing administrative tasks related to the credentialing of medical and house staff. The position also provides administrative support to relevant Credentialing Committees.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are indicative of the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional responsibilities as assigned:

  • Conduct reference checks for medical staff applicants by preparing and dispatching verification letters to previous hospital affiliations, medical schools, the National Practitioner Data Bank, and the Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
  • Gather data directly from practitioners, including curriculum vitae, state licensure copies, D.E.A. information, and insurance details. Request information from other internal departments such as Medical Records, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance to facilitate the reappointment process.
Qualifications:

II. Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Some college education is preferred. Certification in CPCS or CPMSM is required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

Three (3) years of prior experience in medical staff administration is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven knowledge of The Joint Commission, NCQA, and Federal and State regulations concerning the credentialing process.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software, is necessary for tracking and managing credentials within the medical system. Familiarity with credentialing software is advantageous.
  • Ability to collect and coordinate necessary information within strict deadlines is required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is essential to ensure compliance with credentialing standards.
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills are vital for effective interaction with medical and nursing staff.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills are necessary.
