Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Inspector is tasked with ensuring the excellence of manufactured components and providing constructive feedback to Machine Operators to enhance production efficiency. Under direct supervision, this role assesses whether the final output aligns with company quality benchmarks and meets customer specifications.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts thorough inspections of manufactured components and offers guidance to Machine Operators and Team Leads to improve production processes.
  • Verifies adherence to proper packing procedures.
  • Ensures pallets are constructed in accordance with established specifications.
  • Evaluates the final product to confirm compliance with quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Collaborates with Production Supervisors or Quality Assurance for the resolution of complex product acceptability issues.
  • Completes daily inspection and packing reports accurately.
  • Engages in various cleaning tasks during production downtime.
  • Operates hot press machinery while maintaining product quality.
  • Meets or surpasses the designated production speed for hot press items.
  • Utilizes gauges and calibration tools to inspect finished products based on customer and internal criteria.
  • Communicates quality concerns to Machine Operators, Team Leads, and Pulpers for necessary corrective actions.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Instructs and mentors new Quality Assurance Inspectors on specific quality and packing protocols.
  • Handles weight measuring and calibration equipment safely to consistently monitor quality.
  • Operates Hot Press or performs rework as required.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Cross-trained in roles such as Pulper, Presser, and Material Handler.
  • Completes other assigned duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

SUPERVISORY AND COMPLEXITY ASPECTS

  • No direct supervision of employees; however, responsible for training and guiding new team members.
  • Ability to interpret various diagrams and packing instructions is essential.
  • Basic mathematical skills for counting and calculations are required.
  • Proficient in using weight measuring and calibration tools.
  • Understanding of measurement units is necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position entails a work environment typical of manufacturing settings. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and sit as needed.
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and auditory.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Utilization of prescribed methods for lifting over 40 pounds, including material handling equipment.

Visual Requirements:

  • Specific vision capabilities include close and distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional work in elevated areas.
  • Exposure to varying temperature conditions.
  • Typically loud noise levels in the production area.
  • Compliance with safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and use of protective equipment, is expected.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to maintain pace set by machinery.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) policies, including safety glasses, shoes, and face coverings as necessary.
