This vital position involves overseeing and organizing the safe transportation needs of children involved in dependency case management. The role includes assisting Family Care Managers and Supervisors in supervising visitations, documenting observations, transporting children to medical appointments, and performing essential clerical tasks for families in need. To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the key responsibilities outlined below. Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate transportation across various modes (e.g., car, plane, train) for Family Support Workers responsible for transporting children under Child Protective Services, including relocation to foster homes, medical visits, and supervised family interactions.
  • Assign and schedule transportation tasks to Family Support Workers, adjusting routes as necessary to meet changing needs.
  • Assist in supervising children in designated areas while parents engage with Family Care Managers, as required.
  • Monitor and supervise family visitations as directed by Family Care Managers or Supervisors; keep track of visitation duration and make decisions regarding the continuation of visits as needed; provide immediate verbal reports and follow up with written documentation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, biological parents, foster parents, and extended family members.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to all staff and clients, embodying professionalism and respect.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three years of experience in social services, child development, family services, or childcare settings. An associate or bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field may substitute for required experience.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, as required for business-related travel.
  • Successful completion of Driver Safety training.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of adequate automobile insurance coverage as per applicable statutes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly visible role, utilizing strong interpersonal communication skills to engage with children, families, and legal representatives.
  • Demonstrated patience and understanding when assisting children.
  • Capability to read, analyze, and interpret professional guidelines.
  • Proficient in writing clear reports within designated timeframes.
  • Adept at identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions and respond appropriately.
  • Competence in safely operating different types of vehicles, ranging from compact cars to vans.

  • Good visual acuity and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing at least 20 pounds, with assistance available for heavier items.
  • Capacity to endure prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as sitting, using hands for various tasks, and bending or kneeling throughout an 8-12 hour workday.
