Key Responsibilities:

The adjunct faculty member is tasked with upholding academic integrity and demonstrating professional expertise within their discipline. The individual is expected to engage professionally in all academic activities and interactions with colleagues, students, and peers. A commitment to North Park's mission of Christian higher education is essential.

The School of Business and Nonprofit Management has ongoing needs in the following disciplines:

  • Organizational Behavior and Change Management

As a part-time instructor, adjunct faculty are contracted on a term-by-term basis, with no assurance of ongoing employment. The adjunct instructor will teach a diverse student body. Course scheduling is determined by the academic department, and adjunct faculty will be informed of course timing prior to the issuance of an official contract. In some cases, flexibility in scheduling may be available. The following duties represent the minimum expectations for all faculty:

  • Attend an adjunct faculty orientation with the Associate Dean during the first semester of teaching.
  • Comply with University Rules and Procedures, reflecting applicable federal, state, and local laws governing education.
  • Engage in campus-wide activities, meetings, and events as feasible and/or as requested by the department chair or dean.
  • Maintain availability to the department chair or dean.
  • Prepare syllabi, course materials, and supplementary resources as necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and grades.
  • Submit midterm and final grades in accordance with university policies and deadlines.
  • Teach all scheduled classes unless otherwise directed by the department chair or dean.
  • Foster student growth and learning, integrating diverse perspectives and promoting equity and inclusion in the classroom.
  • Utilize appropriate technology to enhance instruction and the learning experience, including Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and learning management systems like Canvas.
  • Document office hours in the course syllabus.
  • Promote a positive and safe educational environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the contractual agreement.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the relevant discipline; a doctorate is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education teaching or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated professional development and subject matter expertise using effective teaching methodologies.
  • High competency in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the classroom.
  • Maintain current licensure or certifications as required.
  • Typically responsible for providing personal transportation to the University or technology for online instruction.
