Key Responsibilities:

The adjunct faculty member is tasked with upholding academic integrity and demonstrating professional expertise within a specific discipline. The individual is expected to conduct themselves professionally in all academic interactions and maintain a commitment to North Park's mission of Christian higher education.

The School of Business and Nonprofit Management is currently seeking adjunct faculty in the following areas:

  • Economics
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Nonprofit Management
  • Human Resources and Talent Development
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Ethical Leadership
  • Organizational Behavior and Change Management

As part-time instructors, adjunct faculty are engaged on a term-by-term basis, with no assurance of ongoing employment. The adjunct instructor will cater to a diverse student body. Course scheduling is determined by the academic department offering the course, and adjunct faculty will be informed of course timing prior to the issuance of an official contract. Flexibility in course timing may be available in certain cases. The following duties represent the minimum expectations for all faculty:

  • Attend an adjunct faculty orientation with the Associate Dean during the first semester of teaching.
  • Comply with University Rules and Procedures, which align with federal, state, and local laws governing education.
  • Engage in campus-wide activities, meetings, and events as feasible and/or at the request of the department chair/division director/dean.
  • Maintain open communication with the department chair/division director/dean.
  • Prepare syllabi, course materials, and supplementary resources as necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and grades.
  • Submit required midterm and final grades in accordance with university policies and deadlines.
  • Teach all scheduled classes on the designated day and time unless otherwise directed by the department chair/division director/dean.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering student growth and learning, incorporating diverse perspectives in the classroom, and promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Utilize appropriate technology to enhance instruction and the student learning experience, including Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications, as well as learning management systems like Canvas.
  • Document available office hours in the course syllabus.
  • Promote and maintain a positive and safe educational environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
  • Adhere to all aspects of the contractual agreement.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the relevant discipline; a doctorate is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education teaching or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated professional development and subject matter expertise utilizing current and effective teaching methodologies.
  • High level of competency regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom.
  • Maintain current licensure or certifications as required.
  • Typically provide personal transportation to the University or technology for accessing an online classroom.
