Role Overview:

The Head of Maintenance Operations and Control is responsible for defining the long-term vision, managing financial outcomes, and guaranteeing safe maintenance practices while adhering to all regulatory and company standards. This leadership role sets strategic objectives for the team, ensuring exceptional performance in safety, compliance, quality, and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain the airworthiness of all aircraft.
  • Establish strategic and performance benchmarks for the Maintenance Control and On Call Maintenance teams.
  • Align all strategies with the company's steadfast commitment to safety and compliance through effective processes and communication.
  • Enhance team capabilities through performance management and constructive feedback, promoting strategic thinking within the department.
  • Cultivate a positive team culture through active leadership and reinforcement of desired behaviors.
  • Monitor deferred maintenance items and ensure prompt corrective actions are taken in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Facilitate timely troubleshooting of issues and initiate corrective measures to uphold aircraft reliability throughout operations.
  • Manage contracts with on-call and line maintenance providers, ensuring alignment with company interests.
  • Maintain effective communication with contracted repair agencies, regularly assessing their performance against company standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance planning to ensure compliance with aircraft inspection schedules.
  • Ensure all personnel involved in maintenance activities are adequately trained and certified.
  • Participate in the Reliability Analysis Program Control Board and advise on the Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) initiatives.
  • Evaluate safety risks within the Maintenance and Engineering sector, implementing effective risk controls as per the Safety Management System (SMS) guidelines.
  • Collaborate with NOC leadership to establish clear communication channels between maintenance control and NOC teams.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • 8 years of experience in maintenance operations.
  • 5 years of leadership experience, with a minimum of 2 years in direct people management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Aircraft Mechanic Technician Certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings for at least 3 years.
  • Strong analytical skills in business operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and safety protocols.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Exceptional integrity and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • 10 years of experience in the airline industry.
  • 5 years of experience in maintenance control.
  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software.

Compensation:
$157,700 - $252,300 annually

Total Target Compensation:
$206,000 - $329,790 (including bonuses and equity)
