Job Title: Head Fly Operator

The Seattle Theatre Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Fly Operator to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our Hemp House Fly Rail system at the Moore Theatre in Seattle.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Stage Manager to ensure the safe operation of the Hemp House single purchase counterweight system.
  • Operate the Pin Rail and supervise local crews as needed.
  • Collaborate with other stage departments to complete the needs of the show.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Hemp House Fly system and Arbor moves.
  • Ability to work from elevated positions and have extensive knowledge of rope, weight, and rigging dynamics.
  • Advance technical information and venue specifications to outside tours and vendors.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and perform chain hoist maintenance as required.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work effectively with a team in all aspects of interaction (house crew, local over-hire crew, road crew, and clients).
  • Ability to advance rigging needs with touring productions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to lead a crew of varying sizes and adapt to changing priorities of a show and fluctuating schedule in a positive manner.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted and work in a safe and predictable manner under stressful conditions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Vision - corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary.
  • Sitting/standing/walking - about 90% of the time is spent standing and walking.
