Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services in a variety of clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients across all clinical settings, including ambulatory clinics, hospitals, and community settings.
  • Work collaboratively with medical directors, administrative management, nursing, and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes and procedures.
  • Perform and document comprehensive health histories and physical assessments.
  • Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and health risk profiles, and communicate effectively with other healthcare team members.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges.
  • Order medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations.
  • Request consultation and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Evaluate and analyze patient responses to disease processes and/or therapeutic, diagnostic interventions.
  • Provide information, education, and support to patients and families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities as appropriate and as determined by department or unit.
  • Manage patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures.
  • Report births, deaths, outbreaks of communicable diseases, and other information critical to patient and public health as required by legal or governmental authorities.
  • Meet quality standards as determined by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • Department and unit-specific experience.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
