As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing or medicine, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage patients across various clinical settings, including ambulatory clinics, hospitals, and community settings.
- Work collaboratively with medical directors, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Exercise independent judgment in assessing, diagnosing, and initiating medical processes and procedures.
- Perform and document comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, including initiation of CPR or other emergency therapies as needed.
- Formulate diagnoses, identify health risk profiles, and communicate effectively with other healthcare team members.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues.
- Perform procedures within the scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges.
- Order medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations.
- Request consultations and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.
- Evaluate and analyze patient responses to disease processes and therapeutic interventions.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities and manage patients in accordance with established UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures.
- Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
- Department and unit-specific experience.
- License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive), and repetitive motion using a computer keyboard. The successful candidate will also possess proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to write legibly.
