Note: This role is dependent on contract awards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GIS Analysis and Support: Conduct comprehensive GIS analyses to support marine resource management. Coordinate efforts to produce maps and datasets that facilitate communication with stakeholders in fisheries management and research.
  • Development of Tools and Applications: Create web-based applications for the effective distribution of GIS data. Streamline and automate GIS processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation, including metadata and technical reports. Summarize findings in comprehensive reports and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • Data Analysis: Perform geospatial analyses to assess community reliance on fisheries. Organize spatial resources for accessibility by stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields such as Geography, Marine Biology, or Environmental Science.
  • Proven experience with GIS software, particularly ArcView or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in managing relational databases.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python.
  • Demonstrated project management skills in technical scientific programs.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Experience with government agencies, particularly NOAA, is preferred.
  • Advanced cartographic skills and experience in socioeconomic data analysis are advantageous.
