Job Overview

Core Responsibilities:
Oversee all facets of a materials, environmental, or geotechnical engineering initiative to guarantee timely and safe completion within defined scope and budget. Accountable for executing the project as per its agreed scope; track progress and performance against the project timeline. Address and resolve operational challenges to minimize delays. May involve resource management, project scheduling, budget oversight, and collaboration with external vendors or subcontractors. Facilitate meetings and generate reports to relay project status to both the project team and the client. Establish priorities, delegate tasks, and coordinate project personnel to achieve project objectives and milestones. May include responsibilities for client communication and ensuring satisfaction with deliverables. Collaborate with APR to ensure their engagement throughout the project, especially at critical phases. Involvement may extend to approving invoices, preparing change orders, and managing collections.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all elements of a small to medium-sized project.
  • Collaborate with clients or NAM to outline project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Design, communicate, and execute a project plan for successful completion.
  • Lead safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to the approved safety plan.
  • Proactively address operational issues to minimize project delays.
  • Identify, develop, and secure resources necessary for project completion, including calculations, designs, reports, and work specifications; develop project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project personnel, and external contractors.
  • Partner with other departments or offices to obtain specialized resources for the project.
  • Conduct meetings and prepare reports to update on project status.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project personnel to meet targets and milestones.
  • Coordinate with APR to ensure adequate oversight and sufficient time for reviews at critical phases.
  • Work with accounting for effective financial management, invoicing, and collections.
  • Develop an understanding of project-related risks and familiarize with potential issues that may arise, ensuring compliance with company risk policies.
  • Champion safety practices for the team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment; advocate for pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Encourage continuous quality monitoring and improvement throughout projects; oversee quality standards and practices; engage APRs at the onset of projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology, along with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or similar professional registration/certification relevant to the type of services and projects managed.
