Job Summary:
Terracon is seeking a skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
- Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, clients, and contractors regarding construction site requirements, testing, and inspection results.
- Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Under close supervision, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to Project Managers and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Maintain assigned equipment and follow safety rules and practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months of experience required.
- Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
- Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
