Position Overview:
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing activities at designated construction sites.

This includes daily inspections of the construction site, coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries, and verifying that construction adheres to specifications and timelines.

The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant state, federal, and industry codes and reporting any discrepancies to management. This role reports directly to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide technical guidance and support to Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers regarding material controls, delivery schedules, and design specifications to minimize additional costs.

Participate in pre-construction meetings (both internal and external).

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the project scope, identify all project participants, maintain updated contact information, and ensure consistent communication with the project team.

Thoroughly comprehend job scope and specifications to guarantee accuracy in construction methods. Address field inquiries related to project plans and specifications.

Maintain organization of all project documentation and installation records.

Generate, manage, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) from the field to the Engineer of Record.

Coordinate and maintain special inspection documentation for assigned projects.


Ensure compliance with all regulations, including the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan/Notice of Intent and other necessary permitting and compliance documents.

Oversee submittals from subcontractors and provide these to the Engineer(s) and Project Owner(s) for approval, ensuring alignment with plans and specifications.

Facilitate the project change order management process, including the creation and negotiation of change orders between the Project Manager and Owner.

Distribute project plans and revisions to field and subcontracted personnel.

Update project schedules and submit weekly budget forecasts in collaboration with the Project Manager and job accountant.

Assist the Project Accountant/PM with monthly subcontractor billings, pay applications, budgets, and job cost forecasting.

Provide regular updates on materials and quantities, ensuring the accuracy of the project scorecard.


Maintain consistent communication regarding project progress, which includes taking meeting minutes, creating agendas, liaising with vendors and suppliers, responding to emails, and drafting progress reports for the project team.

Prepare and distribute project closeout materials, operation and maintenance manuals, and redlines to the owner upon project completion.

Support the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-5 years of prior experience in construction site work is advantageous, with specific experience in earthwork and/or utility construction preferred.

Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures related to commercial construction.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with clients, management, workers, and subcontractors.

Ability to interpret plans and specifications.

Attention to detail and the ability to identify and rectify discrepancies.

A strong work ethic and a commitment to completing tasks effectively.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant software.

Experience with Viewpoint, Primavera P6 scheduling software, Bid2Win, etc.

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for commuting to work.

Capability to travel to project sites typically within a 2-hour radius of the home office.

Able to work in outdoor environments subject to varying weather conditions, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
