Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Western State Hospital. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in delivering quality nursing care to adult patients.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing nursing care to adult patients, working 12-hour shifts on weekends and 8-hour shifts on weekdays. Part-time LPNs are required to work a minimum of 64 hours per month and must be available to work on holidays, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver quality nursing care to adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Implement nursing care plans and provide guidance to other staff members.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing staff as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week psychiatric hospital.
Requirements:
  • Current, Virginia license to practice as a LPN or license eligible.
  • Knowledge of illness and treatment modalities, including medication administration.
  • Ability to implement nursing care plans and provide guidance to other staff members.
  • Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff.
  • Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care, or correctional settings.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English is a plus.
