Position Overview

The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in the planning, organization, and follow-up of project procurement activities. This position involves tracking project scopes, managing contract documents, documenting meeting minutes, ensuring job safety, overseeing quality assurance, and processing change order requests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute assigned tasks with a high degree of precision, punctuality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review and manage all submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring alignment with contract documents and project requirements.
  • Engage in the bidding process, assisting the owner and project manager in documenting and evaluating bids.
  • Facilitate and/or lead meetings, coordinate agendas, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Prepare and review all change order requests and agreements, ensuring compliance with the primary contract while maintaining document files and logs.
  • Keep current scheduling information organized and accessible.
  • Apply for necessary permits and Certificates of Occupancy.
  • Coordinate utility services as directed.
  • Maintain and archive inspection reports.
  • Upload project drawings to Procore.
  • Establish and manage systematic procedures for addressing issues and information requests throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of drawings that reflect all modifications from the original contract documents, including change orders, addenda, field work orders, and correspondence.
  • Implement job start-up and close-out procedures as directed by the project manager.
  • Maintain aerial project documentation and upload monthly aerial images.
  • Comprehend the scope of all subcontracts and keep the project manager and superintendent informed of potential challenges. Prepare subcontract agreements for final review and approval by the project manager.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and follow directives outlined in the Corporate Safety Manual.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents, plans, specifications, and subcontracts.
  • Assist in pricing temporary facilities and project site utilization.
  • Provide on-site punch list management and project closeout supervision.
  • May mentor junior Project Engineers or interns.
  • May delegate tasks to other staff as necessary.
Required Attributes

Team spirit is paramount. To excel as a Project Engineer, candidates must be adept at meeting tight deadlines, proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, and familiar with construction management software. Exceptional verbal, written, and organizational skills are essential. Candidates should embody integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission of LGE Design Build. The ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Self-motivation, organization, and clear communication are key attributes.

Reporting Structure

The Project Engineer will report directly to the Director of Construction.
