Job Overview

Position: Head of Strategic Procurement

Department: Supply Chain Management

Classification: Exempt

Summary: In the role of Head of Strategic Procurement, you will establish the vision and spearhead the corporate sourcing initiatives across all divisions. Your leadership will be pivotal in guiding the team through both strategic and operational sourcing, as well as the introduction of materials for new products.

Your objective will be to ensure that the procurement team operates at peak performance. This entails equipping the team with essential tools, such as refined sourcing methodologies, cost analysis techniques, and comprehensive sourcing dashboards, to facilitate their success. You will prioritize the needs of the Manufacturing and Engineering teams, ensuring they receive the necessary components to produce life-saving products promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Network Development:

  • Expand and enhance a global supply chain network.
  • Identify and execute initiatives for supply chain optimization.
  • Manage relationships with both domestic and international vendors.
  • Support operational efforts to achieve delivery objectives.
  • Implement effective supply chain processes.
  • Measure and enhance vendor quality through metrics such as:
  1. On-Time Delivery
  2. Cost Efficiency
  3. Quality Assurance

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory management to balance cash flow, costs, and service goals by:
  1. Supporting objectives aimed at increasing inventory turnover.
  2. Reducing unit costs.
  • Develop both short-term and long-term capacity planning and analysis.
  1. Address needs related to capital investments, new tools or machinery, and ROI on proposed investments.
  • Facilitate the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes to drive cross-functional business results.

Cost Management in Supply Chain:

  • Implement total cost management strategies:
  1. Conduct spend analysis and cost-to-serve evaluations.
  • Continuously refine processes, procedures, and pricing strategies.
  • Forecast price and market trends to assess shifts in buyer-supplier dynamics.
  • Develop year-over-year cost reduction strategies and countermeasures as necessary.
  • Lead the decision-making process regarding manufacturing versus procurement for both new and existing products in collaboration with other departments.
  • Monitor customer demand patterns in a cross-functional manner.

Ensuring Timely Delivery of Materials:

  • Support initiatives to eliminate parts shortages.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate imbalances in production planning and scheduling.
  • Guarantee full and timely delivery of all cost-saving targets.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure timely supply provision to meet KPIs.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Build, develop, and manage the procurement and strategic sourcing teams:
  1. Identify training and development needs and create training plans.
  • Establish KPIs to mentor teams in:
  1. Vendor relationship management
  2. Negotiation strategies
  3. Forecasting and supply-demand planning
  4. Strategic and tactical sourcing and procurement
  5. Operational processes and procedures
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard key objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in fast-paced environments and a passion for building effective processes.
  • Strong background in supply chain management with a minimum of 7 years in a manufacturing context.
  • Expertise in establishing and implementing supply chain processes and management tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP systems; familiarity with Syteline is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic team environment while adapting to change.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety policies.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to support company growth.
