Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist Lead to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including preparing patient skin for surgery and maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy.
  • Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite and position patients according to the type of surgery.
  • Identify and care for biological specimens and prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
  • Collaborate with RN Service Line Coordinator and provide leadership, education, direction, support, and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service lines.
  • Mentor and coach orientees and provide guidance on scrubbing specialty areas, including but not limited to: Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, and Robotics.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program required.
  • 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center setting required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Lead Tech experience or proven track record as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required.
