Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist Lead at CHRISTUS Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Room suites. Your expertise and leadership skills will be instrumental in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to patients undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with professional nurses to deliver direct patient care and assistance in the OR, ensuring seamless execution of surgical procedures.
  • Provide leadership, education, and direction to improve operational efficiencies within the service line, focusing on care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times, and inventory management.
  • Work closely with the RN Service Line Coordinator to ensure daily collaboration and effective communication.
  • Mentor and coach orientees to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in scrubbing for multiple specialty areas, including but not limited to: Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, and Robotics.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program required.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center setting required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Lead Tech experience or proven track record as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required.
