Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist Lead to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including preparing patient skin for surgery and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients, demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy.
- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite, positioning patients according to type of surgery.
- Identify and care for biological specimens, and prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to type of case.
- Collaborate with RN Service Line Coordinator and provide leadership, education, direction, support, and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service lines.
- Mentor and coach orientees, and demonstrate proficiency in scrubbing 3 specialty areas, including Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, and Robotics.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of the Surgical Technology program required.
- 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center setting required.
- 5 years of experience preferred.
- Lead Tech experience or proven track record as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
- BLS required.
- Certification of Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required.
