Maternity Care Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse delivers direct patient care within the framework of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

Employs therapeutic communication in daily practice. Ensures a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing challenges as they pertain to the unique needs of each patient. The Registered Nurse formulates personalized patient care plans while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Engages in performance improvement initiatives. Provides care and coordinates efforts that align with the hospital's mission and vision.


When assuming the charge nurse role, registered nurses oversee daily operations to guarantee the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic setting.

Assign staff based on patient needs, acuity, and staff competencies. Act as role models and clinical resources for the team. Respond promptly to inquiries or follow-ups regarding physician, staff, or patient matters.

Key Responsibilities:


- Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing challenges in relation to individual patient needs.

- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, treatment options, and patient care across all age groups.
- Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) as a fundamental aspect of your role.
- Apply the nursing process for individualized care to meet patient needs and document all patient interactions.
- Exhibit the ability to perform technical skills, adhere to procedures, and apply critical thinking.
- Provide care and coordinate efforts that support the hospital's mission and vision.

Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
- Labor and Delivery experience is highly preferred.

Certifications:
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months.
- NRP certification required within 6 months.
- AWHONN basic, intermediate, and advanced certifications required within one year.
- CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months.
- Current licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.
