Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Maternity Care Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Your duties will include:

  • Employing therapeutic communication techniques to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of human growth and development across all age groups.
  • Upholding patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Utilizing the nursing process to tailor care to individual patient needs and meticulously documenting all care provided.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in technical skills and critical thinking to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to align care with the hospital's mission and vision.

Required qualifications include:

  • A degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
  • A minimum of one year of RN experience, with a strong preference for labor and delivery experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS and NRP certifications to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • AWHONN certification (basic, intermediate, and advanced) within one year.
  • CPI Training & Certification required within six months.
  • Active licensure from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
