Fleet Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our $200 million portfolio of logistics equipment. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of maintenance programs, cost mitigation, and efficiency creation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fleet Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of all logistics equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement new maintenance programs in collaboration with technicians and shop managers. Identify costs associated with these programs and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Continuously seek out and implement new equipment and technologies to improve organizational efficiency. This includes electrification of cranes and vessels.
  • Capital Planning: Plan and manage capital expenditures for new equipment. Work closely with manufacturers for the installation and integration of new machinery.
  • Operational Support: Work directly with the current position holder for the first six months to ensure a smooth transition and effective knowledge transfer.
  • E-Maintenance System: Enhance the use of the existing e-maintenance system, ensuring that all team members are proficient in its use. Create and monitor efficient standards across all three ports.
  • Collaboration: Partner with organizational managers to implement repair cycles and monitoring programs, aiming to maximize uptime and efficiency.
  • Leadership: Lead a team of technicians and shop managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role within the logistics industry.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing maintenance programs.
  • Strong understanding of cost analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of e-maintenance systems and other relevant technologies.
  • Experience with electrification projects is a plus.
