Position Summary:
This role demands a high level of expertise in manufacturing, focusing on mechanical, preventive maintenance, and electrical systems for the upkeep and repair of high-capacity packaging and processing machinery. Responsibilities also include the maintenance and construction of conveyors, blowers, sifters, blenders, burners, and grinders, along with labelers, ink-jet printing devices, vacuum and hydraulic pumps, forklifts, and air compressors.
The successful candidate will operate independently, employing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to repair, overhaul, and remanufacture plant equipment, which involves root cause analysis and preventive maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections, repairs, and overhauls on mechanical drives, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor control centers, transport conveyor systems, and rotating, cutting, and grinding equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and perform performance assessments on production machinery.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on facility equipment.
- Analyze and repair motor control centers, electromechanical drives, and sub-electrical panels using volt and amp meters.
- Utilize precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to assess working clearances on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Determine necessary materials for repairs, including measuring belts, chains, and fasteners, and complete order forms as needed.
- Perform machine shop tasks, including general metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
- Establish work orders and requisition parts as required.
- Request shop supplies and equipment, including replacement parts, hardware, lubricants, tools, and testing instruments.
- Provide technical input for the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and job safety analyses.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Fundamental mechanical and electrical skills in a manufacturing or industrial setting are essential.
- Vocational/technical certifications, hands-on training, or completion of apprenticeship programs, along with military training experience, are preferred.
- An Associate Degree or 1-2 years of relevant experience is desired.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required; a high school diploma or equivalent work experience is necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Ability to identify basic mechanical and electrical components is crucial.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Word and Outlook is expected.
- Previous experience operating fork trucks is advantageous.
Food Safety Compliance:
Adherence to all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse, and Food Safety standards, policies, and guidelines (including HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, etc.) is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of frequently lifting 25 lbs and working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
