Role Overview

As a Software Engineer specializing in Tasking & Scheduling at Capella Space, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our satellite constellation's automated operations system. This role offers the chance to tackle a range of significant technical challenges that integrate software engineering, physics, mathematics, and optimization principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop software solutions and leverage advanced mathematical techniques to automate the planning, scheduling, and commanding of our SAR constellation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement systems that enhance Capella's tasking and scheduling capabilities.
  • Work alongside Tasking & Scheduling engineers to create, develop, and validate software solutions.
  • Produce clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Research and apply best practices in software and engineering.
  • Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the automated operations system.
  • Engage in code reviews to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Contribute to documentation and provide technical support.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), Rust, Java, or C++.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based distributed systems and microservices (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with data storage and processing technologies (e.g., SQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB, Kafka).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • A willingness to learn new technologies and skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in aerospace and navigation control.
  • Knowledge of mathematical optimization techniques.
  • Background in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Data Analytics.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's education, qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as market data and internal equity considerations.
