Job Description

C&I is seeking a talented and driven individual to fill the role of Staff Mechanical Engineer/Food & Beverage.

About the Opportunity:

The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other disciplines to ensure customer needs are fulfilled. C&I is an employee-owned, full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.

Responsibilities:

  • Work and function as a mechanical project lead, including planning, coordination, scheduling, effort estimates, technical documents, and checking and reviewing work.
  • Delegate work with others as needed on mechanical projects in the food and beverage industry.
  • Interpret, review, and develop process P&IDs and line designation tables.
  • Develop engineering data sheets, specifications, bid evaluations, and construction SOW documents.
  • Perform detailed analysis and comprehensive calculations related to process equipment, material handling, equipment, and other mechanical systems.
  • Review and comment on Vendor Submittals.
  • Create sketches and basic equipment drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Function as a department resource for material handling equipment and systems.
  • Travel to client or vendor locations for equipment inspection and coordinate with clients as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering technology program with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Preparing construction documents for food, beverage, distillation, and chemical plant clients.
  • General working knowledge of fixed equipment, rotating equipment, material handling equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Driver's License.

Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Prior Leadership Experience.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, NFPA, API, HI, NEMA, Welding, and other industry guidelines.
  • Experience with fixed equipment, mechanical systems (piping, hydraulics, pneumatics, metallurgy, and welding).
  • Extensive technical experience with Caesar II, Compress, Nozzle Pro, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and knowledge of developing calculation worksheets in Excel.
