Role Objective

The Quality Assurance Product Engineer at Rehrig Pacific Company plays a crucial role in the Design Innovation and Testing Center (DI&TC) by ensuring the utmost standards of durability and strength in rigid plastic products through comprehensive performance evaluations. This position is responsible for crafting and sustaining effective workflows that enhance testing methodologies and establishing a collaborative environment that promotes productivity within the DI&TC. The Quality Assurance Product Engineer will oversee and implement testing protocols, guaranteeing precision and punctuality, while also championing the center's capabilities to both internal stakeholders and clients. Through these initiatives, the Quality Assurance Product Engineer will contribute to the enhancement of Rehrig Pacific Company's product quality and innovation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Management of Design Innovation and Testing Center

  • Ensure that testing protocols are thoroughly documented, standardized, and adhered to meticulously.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and upgrade testing equipment to ensure peak performance.
  • Generate comprehensive and clear reports on testing results, offering actionable insights.

Product Validation and Testing Development

  • Conduct Sustaining Testing, which includes evaluating the durability, strength, and lifecycle of existing products.
  • Perform R&D Testing, which encompasses competitor benchmarking, New Product Development (NPD) prototype assessments, and unconventional material evaluations.
  • Enhance and develop Core Product Validation Protocols in collaboration with Design team members.

Collaboration Across Functions

  • Collaborate with Design and Engineering teams to create product simulation tests that accurately reflect customer handling and usage scenarios.
  • Support Materials and Sustainability team members in developing alternative material blends that align with internal and external objectives.
  • Work alongside Product Integrity to ensure that quality performance testing at the plant level is consistent with national standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or relevant experience in a testing or quality assurance role, preferably in the plastics sector.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a capacity to thrive in a self-directed environment.
  • Proficient in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in technical writing and communication.
  • Minimal travel is required.
