Quality Inspector Job Description

Elma Electronic Inc. is a global leader in advanced embedded computing solutions. Our products and integrated platforms are based on modular building blocks such as precision hardware components, rotary switches, and embedded computing boards.

We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team in Lawrenceville, GA. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting quality and mission success for the company. Oversee all inspection operations in paint and assembly, inspect and test products manufactured or processed by assemblers and painters to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect assembled MIL spec. and commercial enclosures, and components per engineering drawing, workmanship manual and customer requirements.
  • Inspect masking on sheet metal parts prior to powder coating process.
  • Inspect powder coating on parts.
  • Perform paint testing per customer requirements.
  • Inspect sheet metal parts from the CNC, milling process, brake press and hardware insertion.
  • Inspect special processes i.e., plating, painting, and silk-screening.
  • Inspect defective return material from customers and provide feedback on the rework needed.
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Support Source Inspection with customers when QA Manager is not available.
  • Manage quality issues for paint and assembly departments.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, or fixtures.
  • Follow established process/procedures for discarding or rejecting products, and materials.
  • Complete inspection records, logs, and rejection report reviews as part of their final inspection operation.
  • Perform First Article Inspections per AS9102.
  • Interface with supervisors, engineers, and assemblers on all production quality issues.
Qualifications:
  • Microsoft office.
  • Excellent organizational and people skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to interpret and utilize engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal finishes (Flat pattern layout, forming, welding, graining, milling, hardware insertion etc.).
  • Able to work with metric dimensions.
  • Familiar with various measuring devices (calipers, pin gauges, gloss meter, Mil -thickness test).
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years related experience as a quality inspector in an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Associates, or some college degree.
  • 2-5 years related experience in a metal shop environment.
  • 2 -5 years related experience as a quality inspector for a sheet metal shop.
